Asian Student Mobility in East and South East Asia and France

Student mobility is dramatically increasing. More and more students are willing to study abroad. The first choice of the international students is made on the developed English speaking countries: US, UK, Australia. That is also the first choice of the Asian students. However France is the fifth receiving country of Asian students at the same level as Germany. But more importantly in France there are 70% of international students who come from Asian countries. This paper aims at give some statistical information about the flux of mobility of Asian students and look into their motives, rationales and perspectives.

Dr Lagree is Research fellow CNRS, France, Sociologist expert in youth sociology. Former general secretary of the European Sociological Association; Former General secretary of the Société Française de Sociologie. Currently member of the Executive Committee of the Association Française de Sociologie; Member of the Editorial Board of Current Sociology (ISA).
