Venice in London: Study Day
Peter Medhurst presents a study day about Venice in London. London played host to many brilliant North Italian musicians and artists in the 18th century, who, finding England to their liking, stayed for a period and brought a breath of fresh Venetian air into London's artistic life. This 'breath of fresh air' was to hallmark Georgian culture for many years to come, and this Study Day traces its impact on English culture, as well as following the London fortunes of Canaletto, the Rossi brothers, Galuppi, Handel and the Venetian opera stars.
