Schools event: The chemistry of absolutely nothing

Important: this event has passed!

We cannot see it! We cannot touch it! We cannot even hear it! It's the chemistry of absolutely nothing! What we are talking about is...air! The invisible gases that make up our atmosphere are vital for our survival and existence. We take them for granted in our everyday lives as they allow us to perform so may essential things such as breathing, burning fuels, cooking and preserving food and even lighting up our homes, to name just a few. These gases are so important that they even protect us from the harmful rays of the Sun. However, too much of some of these gases in our already fragile atmosphere can lead to major environmental problems. From the relative inertness of nitrogen to the explosive nature of oxygen, the lecture will be filled with plenty of exhilarating and heart-stopping demonstrations to stimulate and excite the senses!

This event is for schools, although home educators are welcome too. Please book all tickets online.
