Schools event: Crash, bang, boom

Important: this event has passed!

Chemistry is about having fun. It is concerned with the structure of materials and how this structure relates to the properties of these materials and the way they behave. It is also concerned with changes in structure. These changes are brought about by chemical rections which can be great fun- particularly when they evolve energy!

In order to have fun chemists need to study single molecules: What is the shape of H2O? How big is it? And anyway, how do we know? They also need to study how lots of molecules behave when gathered together. How do six hundred and two thousand million million million (6.02 x 1023) molecules behave when they form a crowd? Come along and enjoy some aspects of chemical structure together with some exciting reactions and see for yourself how much fun chemistry can be. You might even have an exciting reaction yourself!

This event is for schools, although home educators are welcome too. No under 5s will be admitted to the theatre, and all home educated children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. School groups please bring the appropriate number of adults to supervise your group. Please book all tickets online.
